Surgery is rarely required in the treatment of snoring and sleep apnoea in adults but can be very effective in the right situation. Children with significant sleep apnoea, however, usually are advised to have their tonsils and adenoids removed which cures the condition in most cases.
Surgical solutions to snoring, if appropriate, will need to be tailored to each individual patient's problem. This judgement will need to be made following a detailed consultation and sometimes with the help of further investigations.
